I understand that sometimes a faithful person wants a therapist who understands the religion or spiritual practices beyond stereotypes or judgments. I was raised Catholic, left the church as a child, returned in college, and am now, like many others, a lapsed Catholic. I continue to feel and to practice from a deep personal spiritual connection. My undergraduate major was in Religious Studies. My Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology is from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, an institution dedicated to the psychology of spirituality. I am familiar with the sometimes complex interactions between psychology and spirituality and how those interactions may be positive and/or challenging. I am happy to coordinate treatment with a religious or spiritual leader from your community.
I feel that I can provide spiritually integrated and respectful treatment to clients with the following faith backgrounds:
- Catholic
- Protestant
- Evangelical Christian
- Jewish
- Islamic
- Hindu
- Japanese Buddhist
- New age spirituality
- Neopagan
If you are interested in working with a therapist who will be respectful of your spiritual life, please give me a call.
